537Michael Pinkstone is an ex bookseller, ex primary school teacher and ex police officer.

He was born during the middle of a game of Scrabble in the Luton and Dunstable Hospital in the mid 70’s.

He attended Parkside Community College and Hills Road VI Form College in Cambridge before working at Heffers Booksellers on Trinity Street for three years. After this, he buggered off to Oxford Brookes University in order to gain a BA in something to do with education and science.

Armed with this useful qualification, Michael decided to teach for four years – two in the UK and two in Kuwait. Soon becoming tired of young children throwing desks at his face and calling him a “Skinhead Thug”, Pinkstone dramatically changed careers and entered the police service, whereupon he dedicated the next five years of his life to the Victorian playground. In early 2007 it became clear that living on a different continent to his girlfriend was something of a difficult situation, so Michael made the decision to emigrate. It wasn’t until two and a half years later that the visa finally arrived, and in May 2009 Michael hung up his gloves, said his farewells to the police service, and buggered off to the New World. He had already married his girlfriend by this time, and now finds himself several thousand miles from the UK - living with his lovely wife, driving a jalopy and trying to maintain his accent as best he can.
